NOTES: From 31 March 1921 until the appointment of the first Chief of the Air Staff on 2 October 1922, the Air Board included Wing Commander R. Williams D.S.O., O.B.E., as Director of Intelligence and Organisation. On 2 October 1922 this title was changed to First Air Member (Chief of the Air Staff). Air Marshals Williams and Jones were knighted after they had retired from the Service.
